The UNESCO-Equatorial Guinea International Prize for Research in the Life Sciences aims to reward the projects and activities of individuals, groups, institutions, and non-governmental organizations for their outstanding contributions to the improvement of human life.

📝 About the Prize

The Prize is designed to recognize and support exceptional research efforts that contribute to the betterment of human life. It is funded by the Republic of Equatorial Guinea and administered by UNESCO.

🎁 Benefits

  • Monetary Value: US$ 300,000, divided equally among up to three laureates.
  • Additional Recognition:
    • A certificate.
    • An “Integración Tribal” statuette by Equatorial Guinean artist Leandro Mbomio.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applications can only be submitted by the following designated authorities:

  • UNESCO Member States through their National Commissions.
  • Non-governmental organizations in official partnership with UNESCO that are active in relevant fields covered by the Prize.

Note: Each Member State or Non-governmental Organization may submit up to five nominations.

📅 Application Date and Process

Submission Methods:

  1. Designating Authorities: Authorities can invite candidates they wish to endorse to apply.
  2. Candidates: Candidates must submit their application to a National Commission through the online process.

Requirements:

  • Applications must be officially endorsed to be received by the UNESCO Secretariat.
  • Candidates must complete the online application form in English or French.

Application Materials:

  • Background information.
  • Outline of the candidate’s contribution to the Prize’s objectives.
  • Summary of the research work.
  • List of major scientific publications.

Important:

  • Self-nominations will not be considered.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
