The Eco-Action Accelerator is a 6-month part-time microgrant program designed to provide Canada Service Corps (CSC) alumni with the tools to scale up a service project idea and develop long-term sustainability plans for their projects.

πŸ“ About Ocean Wise Eco-Action Accelerator

The program includes three interconnected components to support the development and delivery of grantee service projects:

  • A 3-day in-person retreat (October 3–6, 2025)
  • 6 entrepreneurial workshops
  • Regular mentorship with a program coach and a network of peers

The program will run from September 15, 2025, to January 5, 2026.

🎁 Benefits of Ocean Wise Eco-Action Accelerator

Grantees are expected to dedicate 5–10 hours per week to the program and will benefit from:

  • Funding: Up to $5,000 from one of three competitive streams.
  • Guidance: Develop a long-term sustainable business plan for successful project delivery or scaling.
  • Collaboration: Build a unique network of support by leveraging participants' knowledge and experience.
  • Access to Resources: Professional resources and subject matter experts.

βœ… Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 19 to 30 years old at the time of application.
  • Be an alum of a Canada Service Corps (CSC) program.
  • Have a service project idea that contributes to positive environmental change by addressing:
    • Climate change, plastic & pollution, or overfishing (directly or indirectly).
    • Examples: Reducing reliance on single-use plastics, restoring habitats, raising awareness of environmental issues, etc.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada.

🎯 Expectations During the Program

Grantees are expected to:

  • Participate in a 3-day retreat (costs for food, lodging, and transportation will be covered).
  • Engage fully in 6 virtual workshops tailored to skill development.
  • Take part in regular mentorship opportunities with peers.
  • Lead an individual or collaborative project contributing to environmental change.
  • Keep all relevant receipts and submit an expense report and final report before the program ends.
  • Develop and submit a scale-up and/or long-term sustainable project plan.

The application form does not allow saving progress, so applicants are advised to prepare the following in advance:

Project Proposal

Applicants must submit a written proposal (max 750 words) or a video recording (max 5 minutes). Up to five photos/visuals can be included as supporting materials. The proposal should:

  • Outline the service project, including its scope, audience, and goals.
  • Explain why you want to participate in the program.
  • Describe how the project will:
    • Effect positive environmental change.
    • Increase national awareness of ocean conservation.
    • Promote an inclusive and accessible environmental sector.
