📖 About NLB Singapore Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowship
The Lee Kong Chian Research Fellowship programme is a six-month residential fellowship. Fellows will conduct research on the collections of the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library and the National Archives of Singapore, which include historical materials dating back to the 16th century on Singapore and Southeast Asia, as well as contemporary collections.
🎁 Benefits of the Fellowship
The award of the Fellowship is for a period of six months. Fellows will receive the following benefits:
Financial Support:
- Monthly stipend of S$3,500 to cover living expenses, local transportation, and photocopying costs.
- Overseas Fellows will receive:
- One-time relocation package of S$1,500.
- One-time return airfare reimbursement of up to S$1,500.
- Monthly accommodation allowance of up to S$3,500 (reimbursement basis).
Additional Support:
- A research space at the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library, including a computer with internet access.
- Access to the library's collections.
- Introduction to a library staff member who can recommend resources from the collections.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
The Fellowship is open to local and foreign applicants who meet the following requirements:
- Ability to undertake prescribed research topics that raise awareness of the library's collections.
- Scholarly and research credentials or their equivalent.
- Applications are welcomed from:
- Curators
- Historians
- Academics
- Independent researchers with established records of achievement in their chosen fields of research.
- Scholars pursuing doctoral, postdoctoral, or advanced research are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants should preferably have an established record of achievement in their chosen field of research and demonstrate the potential to excel further.
