🌟 About Nederlands Filmfonds Development Oase Fund

The Development Oase Fund (Oase) is an initiative of the Dutch Film Fund designed to support independent documentary directors in the early exploration and development of feature-length documentary ideas. The fund emphasizes cinematic quality, artistic depth, and long-form storytelling intended for theatrical or equivalent high-quality presentation.

💰 Benefits of Nederlands Filmfonds Development Oase Fund

The Oase Fund provides:

• €10,000 for research and development activities.
• Support specifically allocated for developing a treatment. Eligible activities include:
  • Research
  • Narrative exploration
  • Artistic testing
  • Conceptual development directly related to producing a documentary treatment.

✅ Requirements

An independent director, not affiliated with a broadcaster, can submit an application for idea development for a full-length documentary. The director must meet the following criteria:

• Two documentaries of at least 50 minutes that have been released in Dutch cinemas and/or film theatres for paying audiences and/or broadcast on national television.
• One long documentary (at least 70 minutes) that was released nationwide in Dutch cinemas and/or film theatres for paying audiences and/or broadcast on national television.

Additional Consideration:

Directors who meet the first requirement but not the second may still apply if:

• At least one of their previous documentaries has been selected for an international film festival competition, or
• They have won a relevant prize for (documentary) direction.
