The International Journalistsā Programmes (IJP) is now accepting applications for the German-Japanese Fellowship Programme 2026. This prestigious opportunity is designed for journalists seeking to enhance their professional experience through international exposure.
š About the Programme
The programme offers up to 10 fellowships in total:
- Up to five participants from Japan will be based at a German editorial office.
- German fellows will travel to Japan primarily for research, complemented by a short-term placement at a Japanese media outlet.

ā Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to:
- Journalists aged 28 to 40 who work as freelancers, reporters, or editors in Japan.
- Applicants with excellent working knowledge of English (German language skills are not required).
- English proficiency will be tested during a Zoom meeting before the final selection.
