The Health and Aging Policy Fellows Program offers a unique opportunity for professionals in health and aging to gain the experience and skills necessary to contribute positively to the development and implementation of health policies affecting older Americans.
🎁 Benefits of the Program
Residential Fellows (Full-Time)
- Stipend: Up to $70,000, depending on career stage and level of institutional support.
- Relocation Budget: Up to $4,500 for residential fellows.
- Health Benefits: Up to $400/month if not provided by another source.
- Note: The program does not cover employment taxes, retirement savings, or cost-of-living adjustments.
Residential fellows are expected to live in Washington, DC, from mid-October through September of the fellowship year unless otherwise agreed.
Non-Residential Fellows (Part-Time)
- Travel Reimbursement: All travel to required events in Washington, DC, will be reimbursed by the National Program Office.
- Stipend: Up to $15,000 on a limited basis for those unable to secure full institutional support. Priority is given to early-career professionals.
- Placement-Related Travel Support: Up to $10,000.
- Note: Non-residential fellows must secure employer/organizational support to:
- Fully participate in all mandatory events and activities, including a six-week orientation in Washington, DC.
- Commit 20% of their time to their fellowship placement.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
- Open to applicants at all career stages, but primarily designed for individuals with significant career experience in health and aging fields.
- Not Eligible: Individuals who have only completed an undergraduate degree without further training or experience.
- Interdisciplinary Focus: Past fellows have included professionals such as physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, dieticians, healthcare administrators, epidemiologists, economists, and lawyers.
- Commitment: Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to health and aging issues and articulate how the program aligns with their career goals.
- Residency: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with career plans to continue working in the U.S. after the fellowship.
