📖 About the Scholarship

The POLAR Antarctic Scholarship is a competitive, annual funding opportunity offered by Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR). It aims to support graduate students whose academic research focuses on Antarctica. The scholarship is designed to strengthen Canada’s contribution to Antarctic knowledge by supporting high-quality, interdisciplinary research that leads to a thesis, major paper, publication, or equivalent academic output.

• Funding Amount: $10,000 CAD per award.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

• Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
• Be enrolled full-time in a PhD or Master's program at a recognized Canadian university at the time of application and over the tenure of the award.
• Be engaged in Antarctic research culminating in a thesis, major paper, publication, or a similar output.
• Employ an interdisciplinary research approach or methodology.
• Demonstrate a commitment to polar studies.

📅 Application Date and Process

Steps to Apply:

1. Read the Program Guidelines and instructions carefully before applying.
2. Complete the two parts of the application:
   • The application form.
   • Two referee assessments.

Both parts must be received by Polar Knowledge Canada before the deadline.

Application Portal:

• Create an account on the Polar Knowledge Canada Online Application and Reporting site.
• After registration, you will receive a confirmation email. Use your account to:
  • Submit your application.
  • Track the progress of your referee assessments.

Additional Notes:

• You can apply for more than one scholarship or award through the portal, but a separate application is required for each.
• Notifications will only be sent to successful candidates.
• Successful candidates must provide proof of registration in a full-time recognized university program.
