π About the Programme
The German Bundestag Scholarship Programme is a fully funded international fellowship designed for politically and socially engaged young graduates from selected African countries. This programme provides direct exposure to Germanyβs parliamentary democracy, governance systems, and policy-making processes, while helping participants develop projects that strengthen democracy in their home countries.

π Benefits
Participants of the programme will receive the following benefits:
- Monthly stipend of 700 Euros.
- Free accommodation in Berlin.
- Travel costs to and from Berlin will be covered.
- Health, accident, and personal liability insurance provided by the German Bundestag.
β Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Citizenship of a participating country: Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Uganda.
- Under the age of 30 at the start of the scholarship (January 1, 2026).
- Hold a university degree.
- Good knowledge of German (at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
- Demonstrated interest in politics and social/political engagement.

Your application must include the following documents:
- Recent language certificate.
- Letter of motivation (in German, max. two pages, signed personally).
- Copy of passport or identity card as proof of citizenship of a participant country.
- University degree certificate (original or certified copy in English or German).
- Letter of recommendation (in German or English) from a professor, teacher, or employer assessing your suitability for the IPS programme.
