The European University Institute (EUI) is accepting applications for its European People’s Party Postgraduate Research Grant Programme 2026. This grant supports scholars researching European integration through archival work and publication.
🏛️ About the Programme
The European People’s Party Group Postgraduate Research Grant is designed to assist scholars in conducting research on European integration. The programme focuses on archival work and publication, emphasizing the impact of Christian Democracy and the EPP Group on European integration within disciplines such as history, political sciences, and law.
🎁 Benefits
Successful applicants will receive a research grant of €5000 to cover expenses. The grant will be disbursed in two instalments:
- €1800 at the start of the research at either the Historical Archives of the European Union or the archives of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
- €3200 after the publication of a scholarly article in an academic journal or a monograph based on the research conducted.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
The following researchers are eligible to apply:
- Postgraduate students (master’s and doctoral candidates).
- Postdoctoral researchers who completed their doctorate within the past three years.
- Applicants conducting research on the impact of Christian Democracy and the EPP Group on European integration in the human and social sciences (e.g., history, political sciences, law).
- Research projects should preferably align with the applicant’s master’s or doctoral field of study.
- Applicants must have a sound knowledge of English and French. Knowledge of other EU languages is an advantage.
- Only individual applications are accepted.
- Candidates may not submit applications with the same research subject more than twice.
- These eligibility criteria will be strictly enforced.

Completed application files must include:
- CV with any previous publications (max 2 pages).
- Research proposal detailing the research subject, academic significance, methodology, and timetable (max 5 pages).
- Bibliography of sources and studies related to the research (max 5 pages).
- Justification for the need to use primary archival sources (max 2 pages).
- Letter of recommendation from a university or university-level research institute.
