📝 About the Opportunity

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is offering Media Grants to strengthen reporting on forest governance issues in Africa and Asia. This initiative aims to increase media coverage and enhance journalists' capacity to report on forest governance topics.

The program will award up to nine grants to media organizations in Liberia, Ghana, Cameroon, Vietnam, and Indonesia. This work is funded by UK International Development from the UK government.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Media organizations in Liberia, Ghana, Cameroon, Vietnam, and Indonesia are eligible to apply.
  • Open to journalist networks, media organizations, civil society organizations, or academic institutions.
  • Preference will be given to applications from or affiliated with professional journalists, media organizations, or journalism schools.
  • Applications rooted in advocacy or political campaigning will not be considered.
  • Applications must be submitted in English. Applicants must have a working understanding of English or access to a translator.
  • Existing or former EJN grantees are eligible to apply, with performance taken into consideration.
  • Applicants must disclose the use of generative AI tools, if any, in their proposals. Unethical or improper conduct, such as submitting AI-generated content as their own, may lead to disqualification.
  • Grantees supporting story production must adhere to high-quality journalism standards, including:
    • Inclusion of marginalized sources.
    • Comprehensive and fair coverage representing all stakeholders.
    • Attributable quotes and personal narratives.
