📖 About the Fellowship
This six-month fellowship provides mid-career professionals the opportunity to:
- Spend time at the University of Oxford as a visiting fellow.
- Research a topic in health and related social policy that aligns with the UK government’s Global Health Framework.
- Contribute to discussions on health and social policy reform in China.
Programme Structure
- Fellows will complete a research paper of up to 10,000 words in English.
- Research topics should align with the Global Health Framework or focus on the following areas:
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and the ‘One Health’ approach
- Infectious disease surveillance, prevention, and control
- Accelerating the lifecycle of vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostics for new and emerging diseases
- Climate change and health
- Ageing populations and ‘healthy ageing’
- Non-communicable diseases
Fellows will be hosted by the Department for Continuing Education at Oxford, receiving both academic and pastoral support. They will also have access to lectures, seminars, and other academic activities.

✅ Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must:
- Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations for the programme.
- Be a citizen of China, currently residing in the country, and intend to return to China after the fellowship.
- Hold a postgraduate qualification (or equivalent professional training/experience in a relevant area).
- Have at least five years of professional experience or be a currently enrolled PhD candidate (PhD must not be with a UK/EU or USA university).
- Not hold dual nationality where one nationality is British (except for nationals exempt from this requirement as per Chevening Guidance).
- Not be an employee, former employee, or relative of an employee of His Majesty’s Government or affiliated organisations within the last two years.
Relatives are defined as parents, step-parents, siblings, step-siblings, children, step-children, spouse, civil partner, or unmarried partner (in a relationship akin to marriage for at least two years).
