General Requirements:

A. Grants are only considered for fine art, dance, theatre, music, film, writing, curating, and design.

  • Be a Bahamian Permanent Resident.
  • Be a Bahamian organization.

C. The grant must support one of the following:

  1. A creative endeavor within The Bahamas.
  2. Tertiary education tuition assistance at an accredited college, university, or recognized creative institute.
  3. Participation in a short academic program or creative workshop in The Bahamas or internationally that benefits the participant and the Bahamian cultural community.
  4. An international program in The Bahamas that provides significant cultural exposure to Bahamian society.
  5. An endeavor abroad showcasing Bahamian creative and cultural accomplishments on the world stage.

D. Individual applications will consider previous accomplishments such as exhibitions, published works, performance history, or festival participation.

E. The size of the grant is determined by the specific circumstances of the individual or organization.

F. Grants will not cover:

  • Past debts, legal fees, or personal travel.
  • Commercial projects (e.g., art fairs or selling exhibitions).
  • Equipment purchases (e.g., laptops, cameras, tripods).
  • Capital costs (e.g., overheads, rent, property refurbishment).
  • Projects associated with Junkanoo.
  • Projects with overtly religious focus.
  • MA tuition if CAF has already funded the applicant’s BA degree.

G. College/university tuition grants are typically considered for students entering their junior year at college (year three in a four-year program). Exceptions may be made for extraordinary circumstances or two-year degree programs.

H. A consistent GPA score demonstrating strong work ethic and high achievement is required for tuition grants.

B. A Grant Proposal per the guidelines in section 4.
C. If applying as an individual, submit a current curriculum vitae/resume. Fine artists, filmmakers, or designers may include:

  • Professional experience and/or performances or exhibitions record.
  • Grants, awards, residencies, and other professional activities (include dates and locations).
  • File name format: LastNameFirstNameCV.pdf.
    D. If applying for an academic grant, include a letter of acceptance from the university, college, or program.
    E. For fine-art projects, upload up to 5 images of work completed within the past 10 years. Each image must:
  • Be formatted as JPG and 2 MB or smaller.
  • Use the file name format: YourLastName_YourFirstName_ImageNo.jpg.
    F. Provide an Image Identification List including:
  • Name, image number, year executed, title, dimensions, and medium used.
  • Example: Smith_John, image1, 2010, Abstraction, 20 x 30 inches, oil on canvas.
