Canada Destination Québec Merit Scholarship Program
đ About the Program
The Canada Destination QuĂ©bec Merit Scholarship Program enables international students to pursue vocational training in Quebec with a merit-based scholarship, exemption from additional tuition fees, and health coverage provided by the RĂ©gie de lâassurance maladie du QuĂ©bec.
This program, funded by the Quebec Ministry of Education, aims to:
- Enhance the internationalization of vocational training centers.
- Provide talented students with opportunities to study in Quebec.
Students must enroll in and complete a full-time professional training program leading to a Vocational Studies Diploma (DVS) or a DVS followed by an Attestation of Vocational Specialization (AVS). Programs under 900 hours are generally not eligible, except for those qualifying for the permanent residence pilot program of the ministĂšre de lâImmigration, de la Francisation et de lâIntĂ©gration (MIFI).
The program is managed by Ăducation internationale and its QuĂ©bec mĂ©tiers dâavenir service.

Merit scholarships for international vocational training students include:
- Scholarship to cover living expenses for the duration of the vocational training.
- Exemption from tuition fees for international students.
- Medical coverage by the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) for the duration of your studies.
Budget Allocation:
- Annual Budget: $2,380,000
- Number of Awards: Approximately 95 annually (subject to the budgetary allocation of the ministĂšre de lâĂducation du QuĂ©bec).
â Eligibility Criteria
To participate in the Merit Scholarships and Tuition Exemption competition, you must meet the following requirements:
Age
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of submitting your application. No upper age limit.
Nationality
- Be of nationality other than French or Canadian. Priority is given to applicants from:
- Member countries of the Francophonie (excluding France and French Overseas Territories).
- Growth markets in Asia (China, India, Japan) and the Americas (Mexico, Brazil).
Citizenship
- Not have Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status in Canada, nor be in the process of obtaining permanent residence under Canadian immigration laws.
Location
- Be outside Canada at the time of submitting your application and until the announcement of selected applications.
Scholarship History
- Not have previously received a scholarship to pursue studies of an equal or higher level in Quebec. Accumulation of scholarships during the same school year is not authorized.
Study Program
- Meet the admission requirements of the desired study program.
Language Proficiency
- Demonstrate a level of English or French proficiency allowing successful completion of the professional training program.
Financial Capacity
- Declare having the requested financial capacity.
Fraud
- Not have been found guilty of submitting fraudulent documents in past applications for this program or any other program of the ministĂšre de lâĂducation.
