The Congressional Hunger Center is currently accepting applications for its Bill Emerson National Hunger Fellowship Program 2026-2027. This prestigious program offers a unique opportunity to develop a deep understanding of effective solutions to hunger and poverty in the United States.

📝 About the Program

During the 11-month fellowship, participants will:

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of hunger and poverty solutions.
• Explore their roles in achieving Zero Hunger in the United States.
• Begin with orientation and field training in Washington, D.C..
• Spend five months with community-based organizations across the U.S.
• Return to Washington, D.C., for a second placement with organizations and government agencies focused on national anti-hunger and anti-poverty policies.
• Participate in in-person trainings, retreats, and professional development sessions to hone essential skills and build a strong professional network.

Fellows receive a financial package of no less than $50,000 over the duration of the fellowship. Additional benefits include:

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Strong commitment to ending hunger and poverty.
• Ability to adapt to new situations and think creatively.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Lived experience with hunger/poverty or work in low-income communities is valued.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Enthusiasm for peer learning in a close-knit cohort.
