During the 11-month fellowship, participants will:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of hunger and poverty solutions.
  • Explore their roles in achieving Zero Hunger in the United States.
  • Begin with orientation and field training in Washington, D.C..
  • Spend five months with community-based organizations across the U.S.
  • Return to Washington, D.C., for a second placement with organizations and government agencies focused on national anti-hunger and anti-poverty policies.
  • Participate in in-person trainings, retreats, and professional development sessions to hone essential skills and build a strong professional network.

βœ… Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Strong commitment to ending hunger and poverty.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Lived experience with hunger/poverty or work in low-income communities is valued.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Enthusiasm for peer learning in a close-knit cohort.

  1. One-page resume.
  2. One-page personal statement detailing values, experiences, skills, and professional goals.
  3. One-page essay responses (two half-page answers):
    • How community work/life experiences shaped your perspective on hunger and poverty.
    • The role of government in addressing complex social problems like hunger and poverty.
