The BARD Graduate Student Fellowship provides an exceptional opportunity for Ph.D. students from the United States or Israel to gain hands-on experience and learn new skills in agricultural, food, and nutrition sciences by conducting part of their doctoral research in the partner country.

The program is designed to:

• Facilitate collaboration between the U.S. and Israel.
• Provide students with exposure to new techniques and methodologies.
• Strengthen scientific partnerships in the fields of agriculture, food, and nutrition.

🎁 Benefits of BARD Graduate Student Fellowship

Participants in the fellowship program will receive the following benefits:

• Stipend: USD $1,500 per month.
• Travel Allowance: USD $2,000.
• Duration: 2–6 months.
• Collaboration Goal: Strengthen U.S.–Israel scientific partnerships.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the fellowship, applicants must:

• Be Ph.D. students in agricultural, food, or nutrition sciences.
• Be citizens of either the United States or Israel.
• Plan to conduct part of their doctoral research abroad.
• Secure a host mentor in the partner country.
• Not have previously received a BARD Ph.D. fellowship.

📝 Application Date and Process

1. Prepare Required Documents

Applicants must gather the following:

• Curriculum vitae (CV).
• List of publications.
• Ph.D. thesis abstract.
• Academic transcripts.
• Research proposal.
• Mentor details from the host laboratory.
• Proof of citizenship (if requested).

2. Develop a Strong Research Proposal

The research proposal should:

• Define clear objectives.
• Provide scientific background and rationale.
• State the working hypothesis.
• Outline methodology and expected results.
• Show relevance to the doctoral thesis.
• Ensure feasibility within the 2–6 month timeframe.

3. Secure Host Mentor

• The mentor must provide a brief CV.
• Submit a signed letter confirming supervision and relevant research topics.

4. Submit Application

• Upload all materials through the BARD online portal.
• Ensure files are combined and formatted correctly.
• Note: Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

5. Review & Notification

• Applications are evaluated by BARD’s Technical Advisory Committee.
• Recommendations are sent to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
• Final decisions are released to applicants.
