Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University James R. Jewett Prize for Researchers 2026

The James R. Jewett Prize is awarded to researchers studying the biology of flowers and/or fruits. Preference is given to visiting scholars who plan to utilize the living collection of the Arnold Arboretum. This prize supports original research, fosters collegial exchanges and partnerships, and demonstrates the research value of the Arboretum’s collections.

• Open to researchers studying the biology of flowers and/or fruits.
• Preference is given to visiting scholars who plan to utilize the living collection of the Arnold Arboretum.

📅 Application Date and Process

To be considered for an award, online applications should include the following:

1. Cover Letter
2. Research Statement
   • A 1 to 2-page document describing your research project and how additional funding via the Jewett Prize would further your research aims.
   • Include how the living collection of the Arnold Arboretum will be utilized.
   • References should be included but do not count as part of the page limit.
3. Research Budget
   • A simple, 1-page budget itemizing the research and travel costs associated with the proposed project.
   • Award funds are not intended to supplement or replace departmental salaries or stipends, but they may be used for the stipend/salary of an undergraduate intern appointed through your home institution.
4. Project Timeline
   • A timeline of the project with anticipated start and end dates.
5. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
6. Two Letters of Recommendation (for applicants who are not Faculty or Principal Investigators)
   • Requests for letters of recommendation must be sent via the online submission system.
   • Referees will receive an email with a link to upload their letters.
   • It is recommended to inform referees in advance to expect an email from Admin@communityforce.com.
   • Letters must be uploaded by February 1, 2026.
