🏫 About the Scholarship

The NHR Graduate School offers a three-year full-time scholarship at one of the NHR Centers affiliated with German universities. These universities are internationally recognized in high-performance computing, numerical simulation, and AI/ML.

  • Doctoral students are supervised at an NHR Center whose research focus aligns with their doctoral project.

  • A master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, natural sciences, engineering, or a comparable field.
  • Fulfillment of the admission requirements for doctoral studies at the supervising NHR Center.
  • Additional acceptance requirements may be specified in the subject-specific doctoral regulations of the universities.

Required Documents:

  2. Letter of Motivation (1–2 pages):
    • Describe your academic and professional plans, motivation, and scientific interests.
  3. Curriculum Vitae (CV) (max. 2 pages):
    • Include your education, academic credentials, publications, and significant achievements.
  4. Research Statement (1–2 pages):
    • Focus on your future dissertation and explain the underlying research project.
    • Indicate your preferred supervising center(s) and provide a ranking if applicable.
  5. Academic/University Transcripts:
    • Provide official transcripts or proof of an equivalent degree.
    • Non-English/German transcripts require an official translation.
  6. Proof of English Proficiency:
    • Submit one of the following:
      • TOEFL (iBT): Minimum score of 79.
      • IELTS (Academic): Minimum score of 6.5.
      • Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE) or C1 Advanced (CAE): Minimum score of 180/Grade C.
  7. Letter of Recommendation:
    • Must be submitted directly by a faculty member, professor, or university teacher who knows you well.
