Applications are now open for the 2025 Geneva Challenge. This international contest aims to present innovative and pragmatic solutions to address the challenges of migration.
π About Geneva Challenge
The Geneva Challenge, launched in 2014 by the Graduate Institute with the generous support of Ambassador JenΓΆ Staehelin, stimulates reflection and innovation on development issues from diverse disciplinary and contextual perspectives. It is an international competition for Master's students from anywhere in the world.

Prize Categories:
Five prizes will be distributed, one in each of the following categories:
- Universities located in Africa
- Universities located in Asia
- Universities located in Europe
- Universities located in North America and Oceania
- Universities located in Latin America
π Benefits of Geneva Challenge
The contest distributes 25,000 CHF in monetary prizes:
- Winning Project: CHF 10,000
- Second Place Teams (2): CHF 5,000 each
- Third Place Teams (2): CHF 2,500 each
β Eligibility Criteria
This contest is open to Master's students from anywhere in the world.
π Selection Process
Submissions are evaluated by an interdisciplinary academic steering committee, which selects three submissions per category to be:
- Published on the competition's website
- Reviewed by an independent jury of experts from academic, governmental, and private sector backgrounds.
Finalist Teams:
- Five finalist teams (one team per continent) will be invited to Geneva for an oral presentation.
- Finalists will defend their ideas and answer questions from the jury and the public.
- The awards ceremony will include a high-level keynote speech.

- Registration Deadline: 30 April 2025 at 23:59 CET
- Submission Deadline: 16 July 2025 at 23:59 CET
Registration Process:
- Fill in the application form.
- Send proof of enrolment confirming your status as a Master's student.
Required Documents:
- Enrolment certificates or student cards containing:
- Your name
- Your graduate program
- A recent issuance date

Proposal Preparation:
Following registration, participants have 11 weeks to prepare their proposals, which are due by the submission deadline.
