📖 About the Scholarship

The Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by the Bank of Tanzania on 12th October 2009 to honor the achievements of the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere.

The scholarship aims to:

  • Promote academic excellence among Tanzanian students.
  • Support female undergraduate students in Science and Mathematics.
  • Sponsor male and female Tanzanians for undergraduate and master’s degree programs in fields such as Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, and Finance.

The scholarships are awarded based on academic merit and a rigorous selection process.

📝 Eligibility Criteria

1. Undergraduate Scholarships (7 Scholarships)

Category A: Science and Mathematics Studies (Female Students Only)

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a female Tanzanian citizen who completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2025.
  • Have outstanding academic achievement (Division One) in Science or Mathematics subjects in the 2025 ACSEE.
  • Have applied or been admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university in Tanzania for the 2025/2026 academic year in the field of Science or Mathematics.

Category B: Science, Mathematics, IT, Economics, Accounting, and Finance Studies (Male and Female Students)

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Tanzanian citizen who completed Advanced Level Secondary School Education (ACSEE) in 2025.
  • Have outstanding academic achievement (Division One) in Science, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, or Accounting subjects in the 2025 ACSEE.
  • Have applied or been admitted to a full-time bachelor’s degree program in an accredited university in Tanzania for the 2025/2026 academic year in one of the following fields:
    • Science
    • Mathematics
    • Economics
    • Information Technology
    • Accounting
    • Finance

2. Master’s Degree Scholarships (3 Scholarships)

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Tanzanian citizen and not older than 35 years of age.
  • Have obtained a First Class or Upper Second Class (Honors) in their bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 4.0 from an accredited university in Tanzania.
  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree in fields related to Science, Mathematics, Economics, Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Have applied or been admitted to a full-time master’s degree program in an accredited university in Tanzania for the 2025/2026 academic year in one of the following fields:
    • Science
    • Mathematics
    • Economics
    • Information Technology
    • Accounting
    • Finance
