- Promotion and encouragement of pediatric surgical research
Representation and Growth
WOFAPS serves as a representation of Pediatric Surgical Associations, not individual persons, and does not represent any political ideas nor make any racial or religious distinctions.
Since its inception in 1983, when only 23 associations were part of WOFAPS, the organization has made considerable strides. It has grown to include over 100 member countries and is recognized by, and participates in, international associations of pediatric surgery and other organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, and WHO. This growth is attributed to the strong leadership and efforts of the Presidents, Executive Board Members, and especially the extraordinary hard work of General Secretary Treasurer Prof. J. Boix-Ochoa.
