Abstract
This cross-sectional study examined the interrelationship between pain, life satisfaction, and negative mental well-being in 70 adults with traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) in Cape Town, South Africa. Results showed significant negative correlations between all mental well-being indices and pain indices with life satisfaction. Life satisfaction mediated the relationship between pain and depression/anxiety. Improved life satisfaction may improve pain and psychological distress in the TSCI population. Future research should focus on interventions to enhance life satisfaction in this population.
