Abstract
This study investigated the mediating roles of hope and anxiety in the relationship between self-esteem and depressive symptoms among adolescents. 431 adolescents (aged 13-18) completed questionnaires measuring self-esteem, hope, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Results revealed that hope and anxiety mediated the association between self-esteem and depression in female adolescents, while only anxiety mediated this relationship in male adolescents, highlighting gender-specific mechanisms.
