Abstract
This paper introduces SONIA, a novel Virtual Reality (VR) system designed for the education and exploration of brain networks. SONIA addresses the limitations of traditional 2D methods in visualizing complex 3D brain anatomy and connectivity. Through a multi-scale interaction paradigm and customizable design, SONIA offers an immersive learning experience with high usability and educational value, as demonstrated by quantitative and qualitative user studies. The system integrates detailed narratives of brain subsystems, allowing for flexible customization of learning materials. SONIA represents a significant advancement in VR-based medical education and exploration.
