Abstract
This paper introduces a novel skin-interfaced olfactory feedback system with wireless and programmable capabilities for virtual reality (VR) applications. The system uses arrays of flexible, miniaturized odor generators (OGs) that have been optimized for response rate, odor concentration control, long-term operation, mechanical/electrical stability, and low power consumption. Demonstrations in various applications, including 4D movie watching, smell message delivery, medical treatment, emotion control, and VR/AR-based online teaching, highlight the system's potential across entertainment, education, and human-machine interfaces.
