Abstract
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a prevalent psychiatric disorder with complex etiology. Growing evidence highlights the gut microbiota's role in brain health, with gut dysbiosis observed in MDD patients. This review explores the relationship between physical exercise, gut microbiota, and depression, focusing on exercise's potential to modulate the gut microbiota, regulate the gut-brain axis, and alleviate MDD symptoms.
