Abstract
This qualitative study assessed the responses of emerging adults with pre-existing mood and anxiety disorders to the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Patients from the First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP) in London, Ontario, Canada completed a survey on their emotional states, activities, and coping mechanisms. Thematic analysis revealed a dominant theme of "Languishing," with subthemes of "Dominance of Negative Emotion," "Waiting and Stagnating," and "Loss of Opportunity." A contrasting theme of "Coping through Intentional Action" was identified in those coping well, suggesting it may be protective.
