Abstract
This study investigated the stability of inter-individual ratings of hunger, fullness, and thirst over 17 weeks in 97 healthy adults and explored the relationships between these sensations, eating patterns, energy intake (EI), and individual characteristics (age, gender, BMI). Marked and stable inter-individual differences were observed for all three sensations. Cross-correlation functions and path analyses revealed weak relationships between appetitive sensations and EI, with EI exerting a stronger influence on sensations than vice versa. No robust effects of individual characteristics were found.
