Abstract
This article addresses the critical need for establishing academic careers for integration experts in inter- and transdisciplinary (ITD) research. Based on a workshop and existing literature, it examines the roles, motivations, qualities, and challenges faced by integration experts. The authors propose four strategies to support these experts: creating an international Community of Practice, studying their career paths, securing funding for related positions, and fostering dialogue with academic institutions and funding agencies.
