Abstract
This study investigated the association between changes in daily stress and blood pressure (BP) in Japanese patients during the COVID-19 state of emergency (April 7 to May 31, 2020). Office BP significantly increased, while home BP significantly decreased. The ratio of white coat hypertension also significantly increased. A substantial portion of patients worried about hypertension's adverse effects on COVID-19 severity, and many experienced decreased exercise and worsened diets. The study concludes that general practitioners should pay closer attention to BP management during stressful global events.
