Heterogenous brain activations across individuals localize to a common network
S. Peng, Z. Cui, et al.
Task fMRI often shows low reproducibility across individuals, but this study suggests heterogeneous activations localize to a common network. Using working memory as an example, the authors introduce activation network mapping (ANM), demonstrating high network-based reproducibility and that individually mapped WM networks predict behavior—outperforming activation-based measures.
