Grid-like entorhinal representation of an abstract value space during prospective decision making

Participants navigated a two-dimensional value space while fMRI showed the entorhinal cortex forming a grid-like map aligned to the axis most informative for choices, and a network including ventromedial prefrontal cortex tracked prospective value differences—suggesting cognitive maps generate lower-dimensional value signals to guide decisions.
