Abstract
This study explores therapists' perspectives on treating mild-to-moderate eating disorders (EDs) to inform user-centric app design. Semistructured web-based interviews with 12 UK ED therapists revealed that while CBT is the foundation, therapists utilize a flexible, person-centered approach incorporating additional techniques. The therapeutic relationship was highlighted as crucial, posing a challenge for app replication. Therapists saw potential for evidence-based apps across all treatment stages but emphasized the need to address safety, privacy, and triggering content. The study informs the design of clinically safe, evidence-based ED apps to complement therapy.
