This paper reveals a ubiquitous mechanism for robust gapless edge modes in non-Hermitian systems, independent of bulk topology. These modes, protected by exceptional points (EPs) where eigenvectors coalesce, are robust against disorder and applicable to topological insulator lasers. Numerical confirmations in lattice models and a chiral active matter model demonstrate this mechanism, offering an alternative design principle for scattering-free edge currents in non-Hermitian devices.
