This randomized controlled trial (SuperWIN, NCT03895580) evaluated two in-person, dietitian-led dietary interventions (Strategy 1: in-store education only; Strategy 2: in-store education plus online tools) versus an enhanced control group in 247 participants. The primary endpoint was change in Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) score at 3 months. Both strategies significantly increased DASH scores compared to the control group (combined Strategies 1 and 2: 4.7 point increase, P=0.02), with Strategy 2 showing a further improvement over Strategy 1 (3.8 point increase, P=0.01). The study demonstrates the efficacy of supermarket-based interventions and online tools in improving dietary quality.
