This study investigated the effect of government expenditure on real growth in ECOWAS countries using panel cointegration techniques (POLS, FMOLS, and DOLS) for 15 countries between 1999 and 2021. The study found that government expenditure positively affects real economic growth. However, this effect is moderated by corruption and conflict; controlling corruption enhances the positive impact, while conflict diminishes it. The findings suggest that effective government management is crucial for economic growth in ECOWAS.
