This study investigated the effects of developmental exposure to traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) on neuropathological outcomes in rats. Male and female Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to TRAP or filtered air (FA) from gestational day 14 through postnatal day 47-51. Neuropathological assessments included MRI, immunohistochemistry, TUNEL staining, qPCR, and cytokine analysis. The study found TRAP exposure modulated the neuroinflammatory response, altered astrocyte reactivity, impacted cytokine levels, and affected hippocampal neurogenesis.
