Abstract
This commentary uses US maps to illustrate the complex interplay between COVID-19, unhealthy lifestyles, chronic diseases, and social injustice. It highlights the disproportionate impact on the Southeast US, particularly affecting Black/African American communities. The authors argue for a move beyond siloed approaches to address this syndemic, advocating for large-scale prevention trials and policy changes that promote health equity.
