Abstract
Xenotransplantation offers a potential solution to the organ shortage crisis. This study presents consistent survival in consecutive cases of pig-to-nonhuman primate (NHP) kidney xenotransplantation, achieving long-term survival even after significant cold preservation time and using FDA-approved immunosuppression. This provides critical evidence for the safety and feasibility of clinical kidney xenotransplantation, and suggests that long-term survival without CD40/CD154 costimulatory blockade is possible.
