Abstract
This study investigated the factors contributing to increased emotional distress related to COVID-19. Using cross-sectional data from 948 US participants, a cross-validated hybrid stepwise procedure identified trait anxiety, gender, and social media consumption as the strongest predictors of emotional distress. These findings can help public health officials identify vulnerable populations.
