Abstract

Understanding online emergency news propagation is crucial for emergency management and information dissemination. This study builds a comprehensive evaluation framework and analyzes 81 million reposts from Sina Weibo, comparing emergency news with political, social, tech, and entertainment news. Emergency news shows shorter lifecycles, active periods, and fewer post-peak fluctuations than other news types. Fewer users repost the same emergency news multiple times, and user influence has less impact on reposts. These findings offer valuable insights for disaster relief and communication path prediction.
