π About Youth Digital Health Champions
The Youth in Digital Health Network (YiDHN), established by Africa CDC, is a strategic initiative aimed at fostering youth-driven innovations and participation in digital health. It recognizes the transformative role of African young professionals in achieving Universal Healthcare Coverage and shaping the future of healthcare in Africa.
Key Objectives of YiDHN:
- Strengthen capacity and digital literacy among youth.
- Engage youth in governance and regulatory forums.
- Facilitate access to funding and pathways for sustainable scale.
- Connect youth with key stakeholders in digital health.
The Youth Digital Health Champions (Y-DHC) program seeks to:
- Identify, profile, and connect dynamic young leaders in digital health.
- Build a visible and impactful network to inform policies and amplify youth leadership.
- Strengthen local innovation ecosystems across Africa.

Capacity Building and Policy Engagement
Invitations to training sessions, workshops, and policy engagements to enhance leadership, technical, and advocacy skills. -
Support for Scale-Up and Expansion
Access to seed funding, mentorship, and coaching from industry leaders. Participation in innovation challenges, fellowships, and accelerator programs.
β Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Age: Must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- Nationality/Residency: Must be a citizen of an African Union member state. Africans in the diaspora are also eligible.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: English, French, Arabic, or Portuguese (cross-lingual participation is preferred).
- Engagement in Digital Health: Must be actively involved in digital health through one or more of the following:
- Innovation (e.g., startup founder, technology developer)
- Research and academia
- Public health programs utilizing digital tools
- Policy development or advocacy
- Capacity building or digital literacy initiatives
