Opportunity Overview

📖 About the Program

Ocean food sustains the livelihoods of more than 600 million people globally (FAO 2024). However, women continue to be underrepresented in key roles within the sector. The Women in Ocean Food Innovation Studio aims to address these gender disparities by offering an equity-free, business support program for female founders and leadership teams driving change in the blue economy.

The program equips startup founders, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to build solutions and drive change across:

  • Sustainable aquaculture
  • Marine biotech
  • Seafood value chains
  • Ocean conservation
  • Blue carbon

Participants will benefit from:

  • Mentorship by global industry experts
  • Curated connections
  • Ongoing post-program support to accelerate commercial growth and real-world impact

🎁 Benefits

Participants in the program will receive the following benefits:

  • Support with company formation, business strategy, product commercialization, and fundraising strategy
  • Long-term support and access to a network of dedicated venture philanthropists and impact investors, including monthly post-program follow-ups
  • Potential for follow-on investment with Hatch Blue and CIV
  • Local industry discovery trips to area farms
  • Individualized mentorship, including:
    • Pairing with relevant industry leaders
    • 1-to-1 sessions with Hatch Blue and Conservation International teams
  • Opportunities to connect with a global network of female-led companies operating throughout the blue economy

Cost

  • All travel, accommodation, and food costs will be covered by the program for two participants per team.
