Beyond Borders Scotland, in partnership with Edinburgh Law School, is delighted to announce that applications for the October 2025 Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship Programme are now open!
π About the Fellowship
The Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship is based on the principles of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which emphasizes the role of women in conflict prevention, resolution, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction. The Fellowship brings together women activists from conflict-affected countries to focus on:
- Conflict resolution, mediation, reconciliation, and dialogue methodologies.
- Inclusivity and sustainable conflict resolution.
- Workshops on self-care strategies for those living in conflict areas.
Objectives of the Fellowship Programme:
- Provide a platform for sharing experiences related to UNSCR1325, the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda, and gender equality.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer learning in a safe space for Fellows to share ideas and challenges.
- Explore womenβs participation in peace processes and societal roles, identifying challenges and entry points.
- Build a sustainable alumnae network for ongoing learning and experience-sharing.
- Offer guidance on topics such as:
- Mediation and negotiation.
- Conflict analysis.
- Transitional justice.
- Gender equality and policy advocacy.
- Gender, conflict, and climate.
- Recovery through the arts.
- Self-care strategies.
π Fellowship Themes and Topics
The October Fellowship will include sessions and activities based on the following themes:
- Women, Peace, and Security: Foundations and critiques of UNSCR1325, challenges, and opportunities for womenβs participation in peace processes.
- Mediation and Negotiation: Gender-sensitive mediation practices and skills-building.
- Transitional Justice: Gendered approaches to justice during and after conflict.
- Gender, Conflict, and Climate Crisis: Climate justice, inequality, and psychosocial impacts.
- Reconciliation and Recovery through Creative Arts: Using arts for peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
- Self-care: Activities to support mental well-being for women working in conflict and peacebuilding.

β Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants should have some level of experience or interest in conflict and peacebuilding.
- Open to applicants from any country recently or currently affected by conflict, even if they are not currently living there.
- Comfort with English is required to engage effectively during the Fellowship.
