📖 About Wells Mountain Initiative Scholars Program

The Wells Mountain Initiative Scholars Program is a needs-based international scholarship designed to support students from developing countries pursuing post-secondary education in their home country or another developing country. The program combines financial assistance with a strong emphasis on academic performance, leadership, and community service.

🎁 Benefits of the Program

  • Scholarship awards range from USD 300 to USD 3,000 per year, with the average award being approximately USD 1,500. Applicants are expected to request only the amount they genuinely need and should not inflate expenses.
  • The scholarship may be used for the following education-related costs:
    • Tuition and academic fees
    • Books and study materials
    • Living expenses
    • Transportation related to studies
  • This is a partial scholarship and is intended to supplement other sources of funding.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be 35 years old or younger.
  • Be pursuing their first undergraduate degree.
  • Study in their home country or another developing country.
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance.
  • Show a clear commitment to community service.
  • Require partial financial assistance to continue studies.
  • Plan to live and work in their home country after graduation.

❌ Who Is Not Eligible?

The following applicants are not eligible:

  • Students planning to study in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, or Western Europe.
  • Family members of WMI staff or current WMI scholars.
  • Students pursuing second degrees or postgraduate studies.

📝 Application Date and Process

Application Steps:

  1. Create an account on the WMI online application portal.
  2. Prepare a recent personal photograph.
  3. Write a personal statement describing your background.
  4. Write a personal statement explaining the relevance of your chosen field of study.
  5. Prepare an essay outlining a community service project, including:
    • Clear objectives
    • Detailed budget
    • Monitoring and evaluation indicators
  6. Secure two recommendation letters from individuals familiar with your academic and personal qualifications.
  7. Collect official transcripts from secondary and tertiary institutions.
  8. Include grading keys and national exam results, where applicable.
  9. Review all documents carefully and submit the application online.
