The Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program brings international secondary-level educators to the United States for six weeks to enhance professional skills and engage in cross-cultural exchange. The program combines academic seminars at a host university with hands-on classroom observation and teaching in local secondary schools. Participants gain exposure to U.S. teaching practices while contributing their own professional expertise.

βœ… Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Fulbright TEA program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Be a citizen of Nicaragua teaching in Nicaragua.
  • Be a current secondary level (middle and high school) full-time teacher of:
    • English
    • English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
    • Math
    • Science
    • Foreign language
    • Social studies
    • Journalism
    • Communications
    • Special education
      Teachers responsible for teaching additional grade levels must teach middle or high school students more than 50% of their work time to be eligible.
  • Have a minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience by the start of the program, with preference for those who have completed at least five years of full-time experience.
  • Demonstrate verbal and written English language proficiency.
  • Note: Full-time teacher trainers are not eligible.
