Originally launched in 1976 as the International Cancer Research Technology Transfer Awards (CRETT), this program has facilitated knowledge exchange for over four decades.

The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Technical Fellowships aim to:

  • Facilitate the international exchange and development of technical knowledge and skills in cancer control.
  • Build the capacity of individuals and their home organizations by enabling the effective application and dissemination of newly acquired skills upon return.
  • Support the development of networks of cancer control professionals to share best practices, knowledge, and provide ongoing support, guidance, or training.

βœ… Eligibility Criteria

The fellowship is open to the following professionals working in the field of cancer control:

  1. Public Health Professionals, including:
    • Epidemiologists
    • Health educators
    • Social workers
    • Nutritionists
    • Administrators
    • Other specialized professionals
  2. Cancer Researchers performing translational, clinical, and/or implementation research.
  3. Clinicians, Nurses, and Pathologists.

Academic and Professional Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold a minimum of a Master's degree.
  • Qualified medical doctors may be considered without a higher degree (e.g., MD) if they:
    • Hold or are within a year of holding a board certification (or equivalent) in a cancer-related specialty.
  • Registered nurses with an RN qualification are eligible.
  • An equivalent one-year training qualification in a cancer-related specialty post-university degree (e.g., cancer registrar training) is acceptable.
  • Candidates must have worked in the field of cancer for at least five years prior to applying.

Ineligibility:

  • Medical and PhD students are not eligible to apply.
