The Chief Digital Office (CDO) at UNDP leads this transformation by embedding digital technology in development projects, supporting governments in building inclusive digital ecosystems, and transforming internal organizational processes.

🛠 Duties and Responsibilities

Interns can work part-time or full-time in the following areas:

🌍 Digital Transformation: Inclusive Digital Ecosystems

• Support shaping local digital ecosystems with a rights-based approach.
• Assist in implementing inclusive and secure digital public infrastructure.
• Conduct research on topics like digital inclusion, ethical technology, and AI.
• Manage knowledge by collecting and disseminating digital-related content.
• Coordinate thought leadership work and provide substantive inputs.
• Develop advocacy content for social media, blogs, and briefing notes.

🌐 Digital Transformation: Country Office Support & Capacity Building

• Assess countries’ digital and AI readiness.
• Support development of national data strategies and AI frameworks.
• Make digital capacity-building resources accessible for governments.
• Assist in initiatives like green computing and AI trust and safety.
• Develop digital-skills programs for UNDP personnel.

📊 Digital Transformation: UNDP Digital Strategy Development & Implementation

• Conduct research and summarize key digital topics for senior leadership.
• Manage and maintain UNDP’s digital guides webpage.
• Support implementation of UNDP’s digital capacity footprint.
• Draft speeches and briefs for the Chief Digital Officer.
• Analyze progress of UNDP’s Digital Strategy implementation.

🏢 Business Operations (People Operations/Procurement/Finance/Internal Processes)

• Assist in tracking progress of operational plans.
• Support organization of meetings, workshops, and travel arrangements.
• Ensure compliance with procurement and recruitment policies.
• Identify inefficiencies and propose actionable solutions.

🤝 Thought Leadership, Engagement, Partnerships, and Strategic Communications

• Research potential new partners and identify collaboration opportunities.
• Draft concept notes, proposals, and outreach materials.
• Support UNDP’s engagement in global and UN interagency processes.
• Plan and produce compelling content for social media and blogs.

🛠 Product Design, Build, and Management (Including AI Tools)

• Design digital products like apps and AI tools for UNDP projects.
• Conduct user testing and improve digital products.
• Support implementation of digital products in countries.

🔄 UNDP Transformation: Change Management

• Manage UNDP Communities of Practice for knowledge exchange.
• Track progress on UNDP’s Digital Transformation initiatives.
• Contribute to internal communications and knowledge-sharing processes.

🎁 Benefits

• Monthly Stipend: In accordance with UNDP Internship policy, the stipend varies depending on the duty location.
• Flexible Start Date: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until August 31, 2025. Successful applicants may hear back anytime between March 1st and the end of 2025.
• Remote/Part-Time Arrangements: Pro-rated stipend for part-time or remote internships.

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements:

• Enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or higher).
• Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level).
• Graduated with a university degree within the past year.
