Prioritized Areas:

The grant focuses on three main groups of prioritized areas:

  • Group 1: Advanced manufacturing, digital, and technology
  • Group 2: Clean energy
  • Group 3: Life sciences (advanced biomedical and biopharmaceutical technology)

Funding Details:

  • Grant Amount: Up to £10,000 per project
  • Project Length: 6 months, starting late September 2025
  • Total Funding: Grants available for an expected total of 6 projects

Objectives:

The grant aims to:

  • Develop Talent Programmes: Support UK-Viet Nam partnerships to develop undergraduate and postgraduate Talent programmes, including joint PhDs, based on UK best practices.
  • Facilitate Joint Research and Mobility: Enable UK and Vietnamese universities and businesses to collaborate on joint research, staff/researcher mobility, and transnational education programme development.
  • Establish Sustainable Partnerships: Expand Talent programmes to more Vietnamese universities, positioning them as regional leaders in quality education and research collaboration.

🎯 Types of Projects

Projects can be discipline-specific or cross-disciplinary. They should address the needs of both countries and meet the criteria outlined in the Guidance Notes document. Potential outcomes include:

  • Establishing a UK-Viet Nam Higher Education Consortium with a shared vision for Talent programmes.
  • Providing seed funding for partnerships, including programme/curriculum development, staff mobility, and exchange.
  • Hosting joint workshops and seminars on innovation, research, and industry-university-government partnerships.
  • Developing Talent programmes to support human resource development in Viet Nam and expand the model to other higher education institutions.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • Lead Institutions: Must be higher education institutions in the UK with degree-awarding powers.
  • Vietnamese Universities: Should have expressed interest in participating in the UK-Viet Nam iTechPath initiative.
