Applications are now open for the TWAS-NCP Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2025. This fellowship is designed for young scientists from developing countries (excluding Pakistan) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in physical sciences at the National Centre for Physics (NCP) in Islamabad.
📖 About the Programme
The TWAS-NCP Postdoctoral Fellowships are available for a duration of 6 to 12 months and are tenable in the departments and laboratories of the National Centre for Physics (NCP). Research fields include:
- Plasma Physics
- High Energy Physics (Experimental and Theoretical)
- Quantum Information
- Applications of Ion Beam Techniques using Tandem Accelerator (5MV)
- Atomic Physics & Spectroscopy
- Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)
- Modeling, Simulation & Computing
- Astrophysics & Cosmology
- Vacuum Science & Technology (Vacuum Standards, Vacuum Coating & Material)
- Additive Manufacturing and 3D Printing
- Artificial Intelligence

🎁 Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: Provided by NCP to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, and health insurance.
- Note: The stipend is not convertible into foreign currency.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must:
- Be permanent residents of a developing country (excluding Pakistan).
- Not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country.
- Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences.
- Apply for the fellowship within five years of obtaining their PhD degree.
- Be regularly employed in a developing country (excluding Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there.
- Provide a certificate of good health from a qualified medical doctor.
- Submit an official Acceptance Letter from NCP.
- Requests for acceptance must be sent to the Director of the Collaboration & Academic Activities Directorate (CAAD).
- Applicants must include their CV and a research proposal outline when requesting the acceptance letter.
- Provide evidence of English proficiency (if the medium of education was not English).
- Commit to returning to their home country upon completion of the fellowship.
- Not take up other assignments during the fellowship period.
- Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.
