TWAS-ICCBS Postdoctoral Fellowships
π About the Programme
The TWAS-ICCBS Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme is designed for young scientists from developing countries (excluding Pakistan) who wish to pursue postdoctoral research in the following fields:
- Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry
- Biotechnology
- Molecular Medicine
- Pharmacology
- Physical Chemistry
- Analytical Chemistry
The fellowship is hosted at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), which includes the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Centre for Molecular and Drug Research in Karachi, Pakistan. The language of instruction for the programme is English.

π Benefits
- A monthly stipend provided by ICCBS to cover living costs such as food, accommodation, local transportation, and incidental minor illness.

β Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a maximum of 45 years old on December 31 of the application year.
- Be nationals of a developing country (excluding Pakistan).
- Hold a PhD degree in a field of natural sciences.
- Must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country.
- Be regularly employed in a developing country (excluding Pakistan) and hold a research assignment there.
- Provide a certificate of good health from a qualified medical doctor.
- Submit an official Preliminary Acceptance Letter from ICCBS.

- Research proposal outline
- Two recommendation letters

- Provide evidence of English proficiency (if the medium of education was not English).
- Commit to returning to their home country upon completion of the fellowship.
- Must not take up other assignments during the fellowship period.
- Be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.
π Application Process
- Deadline: Applications must be submitted by August 14, 2025 (midnight CEST time).
- Applicants must include a Preliminary Acceptance Letter from ICCBS in their application. Applications without this letter will not be considered.
- Reference letters must:
- Be on letter-headed paper.
- Be signed.
- Include "ICCBS/PDoc" and the candidateβs surname in the subject line.
- Note: Only signed reference letters will be accepted.
- Applicants may apply for only one programme per calendar year in the TWAS and OWSD portfolio.
